Description

68 x 82 A hand-pieced and hand-tied scrap quilt featuring vertical columns of multi-colored fabric patches. The layout includes variations of Nine-Patch blocks and irregular strip-pieced sections. The quilt is constructed from a variety of cotton and synthetic blend fabrics, including florals, ginghams, stripes, solids, and red corduroy. Instead of traditional quilting stitches, the layers are held together by red yarn ties spaced across the surface, characteristic of a utility quilt. A wide border along one side and the bottom is made from a distinctive orange, brown, and tan striped fabric featuring a repeated diamond geometric motif. The reverse consists of two panels of plain white cotton or poly-cotton fabric joined by a horizontal central seam, through which the red yarn ties are visible.
