Antiques Quilts and Toppers
Lot 164:
Description
74 x 86 This vintage American patchwork quilt features the traditional Schoolhouse pattern, consisting of 24 individual blocks arranged in a 4-by-6 grid. Each house motif is pieced from a variety of scrap fabrics including printed calico, gingham, plaid, paisley, and solids in diverse colors. The house blocks are set against a white background and are separated by light blue sashing with pink square cornerstones. The quilt is finished with a wide, solid medium-brown border that matches the solid brown backing fabric. The quilting is executed with machine-stitched vertical straight lines. The construction involves a combination of hand-pieced blocks and machine-stitched assembly and quilting.
