Description
70 x 76 This hand-pieced cotton quilt top features a repetitive Bowtie pattern, which is a common variation of a nine-patch block using corner triangles to create the bowtie silhouette. The construction consists of a wide variety of cotton scrap fabrics characteristic of the mid-20th century, including colorful ginghams, multicolored plaids, floral calicos, and solid-colored fabrics. The bowtie blocks are arranged in vertical rows separated by sashing strips of solid blue fabric and a small-scale navy and white checkered print. The item is an unfinished quilt consisting only of the pieced top layer.
