Description

A pair of antique wooden plunger-style butter molds, traditionally used for shaping and stamping individual butter portions. The first mold is constructed of dark-toned turned wood with a cylindrical body and a flared upper rim. Its stamp face features a recessed central circle with four radiating grooves, secured to the plunger with four visible metal nail heads. The second mold features a lighter-toned wood body with a stepped shoulder and a knobbed plunger handle. The stamp face of the second mold is deeply hand-carved with a foliate design depicting a three-part leaf within a circular border. Both molds consist of a hollow outer casing and a movable internal plunger. There are no visible manufacturer marks, patent dates, or signatures on either item.
