Description
This vintage three-dimensional wall plaque was produced by the Syracuse Ornamental Company (Syroco) of Syracuse, New York. The subject is a male ring-necked pheasant walking through a setting of tall grass or reeds. The item is manufactured from SyrocoWood, a molded composite material of wood flour and resin. The pheasant is depicted in high relief with intricate molded feather patterns and is finished with polychrome paints and glazes to represent natural coloring, including an iridescent head, red facial patch, and white neck ring. The back of the plaque shows an embossed copyright mark for Syroco Inc. and indicates it was made in the USA. An original black and gold foil label is also present on the reverse, identifying the manufacturer and material. Two metal hanging loops are attached to the back of the molded form.
