Description
Thistransport crate was produced for The Standard Brewing Company of Cleveland, Ohio. The rectangular vessel is constructed from thick wood planks joined with metal-reinforced corners and features integrated cutout handles on both end panels. The exterior side panels display black stenciled branding reading THE STANDARD BREWING COMPANY CLEVELAND, OHIO, with the brewery name arranged in an upward-curving banner style. The end panels are stenciled with the word STANDARD in bold block lettering below the handle cutouts. A maker’s mark is stenciled on the lower edge of the end panels, reading 10 TRAUB BOX 40 CLEVELAND, identifying the manufacturer as the Traub Box Company and indicating a 1940 manufacture date. The interior floor exhibits circular impressions and stains from glass bottles previously stored within.
