Description
12 x 4.5 in. This spelter or white metal sculpture depicts a cavalier or musketeer standing in a dynamic contrapposto pose. The figure is modeled in elaborate 17th-century period attire, including a doublet with puffed sleeves, a wide lace collar, breeches, and tall boots with spurs, topped with a wide-brimmed slouch hat. The figure holds a rapier across its body. The sculpture stands on an integral circular base featuring an incised geometric leaf pattern around the lower edge.
