Lot 192:
Wooden Caddy with Blue Paint
Sold for: $90
Description
A rustic primitive wooden caddy featuring two deep compartments and a central dividing wall. The divider extends upward to form a hand-carved, arched wooden handle. The construction utilizes aged mixed wood boards, likely a soft wood such as pine, joined with exposed wire nails and flat-head tacks. The handle is reinforced at its junction with the sides by thin, vertical metal straps secured with small nails. The exterior of the box retains a heavily distressed finish of light blue paint over a greyish ground, with incidental spots of dark blue and white residue. The interior and underside are unfinished, displaying a naturally oxidized dark wood patina. There are no maker marks, signatures, or stamps visible on any surface of the object.
