Description
This lot comprises two metal kerosene lanterns of differing forms, both showing a weathered, oxidized finish. The first is a rectangular English road danger lantern constructed of blue-painted sheet metal. It features a prominent C-shaped flat metal mounting hook at the top and three circular red glass bullseye lenses. The front panel is embossed with the name Chalwyn in a stylized script above the block-lettered phrase MADE IN ENGLAND. The side of the housing features a hinged door that opens to reveal a removable rectangular fuel reservoir and a central burner assembly. The base of the lantern is embossed with No. It is fitted with a clear glass globe which bears several embossed marks: an oval cartouche containing the name DIETZ is positioned above the text SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A. on one side, while the reverse side of the glass is embossed with D-LITE, LOC-NOB, and REG.Measurements/notes: Pair; 13 in. and 15 in. H; approximately 6 in. L.
