Description
A pair of Kagura-suzu, traditional ceremonial instruments used in Shinto ritual dances. Each wand features twelve brass crotal bells arranged in three tiers of three, five, and seven bells respectively. The bells are suspended from coiled wire supports and exhibit a dark, naturally aged patina. Each instrument is constructed with a red-lacquered wooden handle, decorated with embossed gold-tone metal caps at both the top and bottom. These metal fittings are chased with floral and scrolling foliate motifs. No maker marks or signatures are visible on the items.Measurements/notes: Pair; 13.5 in. H.
