Description
This late 19th-century yataghan-style sword bayonet features a curved, fullered steel blade. The hilt is constructed with a recurved steel crossguard featuring a muzzle ring and a hooked quillon. The grip consists of two textured black composite panels secured to the tang by five steel pins. The steel pommel includes a functional attachment slot and a spring-loaded press-stud. The blade ricasso is stamped with the impressed maker name ALEX COPPEL over SOLINGEN. The crossguard bears an impressed serial number 67284 on the obverse and unit markings 3 A B 661 on the reverse. The bayonet is accompanied by its original black leather scabbard, which features a steel throat mount with a frog stud and a steel chape.Measurements/notes: 27.5 in. L.
