Description
A rectangular copper repousse wall plaque executed in the Art Nouveau style. The high-relief work depicts a central allegorical female figure, identified through iconographic consensus as Luna or an allegory of the Moon. She is shown in a dynamic pose with one arm arched over her head, partially draped in a flowing robe, and surrounded by a celestial field of raised five-pointed stars. At her feet, a winged putto or cherub rests among stylized clouds, holding a tall laurel branch. The copper sheet is mounted against a dark, textured backing and set within a complex frame. The framing includes a narrow gold-toned inner fillet, a wide mustard-yellow velvet-covered mat, and a distressed black-painted wooden outer frame with a molded profile. The reverse features a wooden secondary frame structure with metal turn-buttons.Measurements/notes: 15 in. L x 25 in. H.
