Description
An African ethnographic short sword featuring a broad, symmetrical, leaf-shaped blade crafted from iron. The blade is characterized by a central ridge and rounded shoulders, tapering to a pointed tip. The hilt is constructed of wood and is bound with a continuous coil of thick, threaded copper or brass wire along the grip. The guard flares into a bell-like shape, while the pommel is large and rectangular with a textured surface. Both the guard and the pommel are embellished with numerous applied brass tacks or studs. A copper alloy collar secures the base of the blade to the hilt. The construction utilizes hand-forged metalwork and carved wood with decorative metal applications typical of Central African weaponry.Measurements/notes: 18.5 in. L.
