Description
A collection of tinplate still banks featuring lithographed advertising and souvenir graphics. The assortment includes souvenir banks for the 1933-34 Chicago A Century of Progress International Exposition and the 1939-40 New York World’s Fair, featuring Libby, McNeill and Libby branding. These examples are decorated with graphics of city skylines and fruit arrangements. Two banks feature advertising for Wolf’s Head Motor Oil and Rival Dog Food, and one example is designed as a red drum with white and yellow cord patterns. The Libby banks feature printed text on the lids. One lid is printed with SOUVENIR A Century of Progress CHICAGO 1934. Two other lids are printed with SOUVENIR NEW YORK WORLD’S FAIR LIBBY’S TREASURE SHIP SAVE TIME AND EFFORT LIBBY’S TABLE READY FOODS. The Rival bank features a blue and white label reading RIVAL DOG FOOD COOKED AND READY FOR USE. The Wolf’s Head bank features a cream and green label reading SAVE BY USING WOLF’S HEAD MOTOR OIL. Measurements: The tallest banks measure approximately 3 7/8 inches in height.
