Description
A collection of vintage astronaut action figures constructed of rubber molded over wire armatures with plastic accessories. The figures are identified by embossed markings on the reverse which read in capitalized sans-serif characters ? 1966 MATTEL, INC. / U.S. AND FOREIGN / PATENTS PENDING. The group features figures in white and red space suits characterized by black accordion-style flexible joints at the major points of articulation. Design elements include small United States flag decals on the chests and blue harness straps across the torsos. The collection includes a variety of helmet styles: two white helmets lacking visors, one yellow helmet with a black plastic oxygen hose attached, and one white helmet featuring a translucent orange visor. Each figure is modeled with a unique facial sculpt and painted features. The figures measure approximately 6 inches in height.
