Description
This religious wall plaque features a bas-relief depiction of the Madonna and Child, crafted in a polychrome molded ceramic or composition material. The central figures are rendered with soft, rounded features and muted tones against a dark background with radiating gold-toned lines. The plaque is mounted within a decorative frame of dark, twisted metal with scrolled details and a hanging loop at the top. The lower right foreground of the relief bears an incised signature reading M. J. Hummel. The reverse side of the plaque displays an incised number 222. A circular area on the backing reveals the material of the plaque beneath a stained paper or composite layer, which also bears a faint, illegible stamp. This item is considered lightweight.
