Description
A collection of four carved and hand-painted wooden waterfowl decoys representing various North American species. The group includes a Mallard drake with a green head, a Canada Goose with characteristic black and white neck markings, a duck with an elongated brown spatulate bill and striped brown plumage, and a duck with a reddish-brown head and white facial markings. Each figure features a polychrome finish intended to simulate feather texture and iridescent colors. Three of the figures are fitted with red felt on the undersides, with each felt pad containing three circular recessed holes. The fourth figure, the red-headed duck, rests on a flat, unfinished wooden base with a single small vertical borehole near the center. No manufacturer names, signatures, or identification labels are readable on the bases or the bodies of the objects. Mallard length: approx 7.5 inches Spatulate-billed duck length: approx 9 inches.
