Description
A two-piece covered dish composed of opaque white milk glass. The lid is sculpted in the form of a nesting hen surrounded by three eggs at the base of the body. The hen features hand-painted black speckling across the wings and breast, with vertical black striping on the neck and tail feathers. The eyes, comb, and wattles are accented with red paint. The oval-shaped base is decorated with a basketweave texture on the exterior wall and a continuous beaded rim. An embossed mark resembling the character 1 is present on the interior center of the base. The exterior underside of the base bears an embossed mark centered within the basketweave design, consisting of a diamond frame containing a vertical bar superimposed with a hooked character resembling a G. Across the base: 5.5 inches. Note: Small chip on tail; glass eyes.
