Description
A pair of Steiff Museum Collection mohair plush animal figures produced in Western Germany circa 1984. The group includes a B?r auf R?dern (Bear on Wheels), which is a replica of a 1905 original. This figure is constructed of brown mohair plush with an internal metal frame and four spoked metal wheels. The reverse of the box is marked with a printed label reading Id. Nr.: A85- 008506 and 0085/12 B?r auf R?dern, Replica 1905. The second figure is a Stehaufb?r (Roly-Poly Circus Bear), a replica of an 1894 original. The bear is depicted standing on a turned wood hemispherical base and holds a vertical wooden pole. The reverse of its box bears a printed label reading Id. Nr.: B84- 001897 and 0082/20 Stehaufb?r, Replica 1894. Both bears retain a gold-tone metal button in the left ear with the incised name Steiff. The figures are housed in their original silver cardstock retail display boxes with clear plastic lids. The backing card of each box displays a portrait of Margarete Steiff and the Steiff Knopf Im Ohr logo, with text reading Made in Western Germany by Margarete Steiff GmbH D-7928 Giengen an der Brenz.
