Description
A Victorian-era photograph album featuring a brown leather binding with deeply embossed scroll and foliate motifs on both covers. The album is secured with two ornate brass clasps and contains cardstock pages with gold-gilt edges and die-cut window mats. The interior houses a collection of mid-to-late 19th-century portraits utilizing early photographic processes, including tintypes and albumen prints. Portrait subjects comprise individual men and women, infants, and seated couples in period attire. One interior mat (image 12) bears the printed text 1862 and a partial word Fa. No other maker marks or labels are visible. Height 6 inches.
