Description
An assortment of mid-20th-century vintage evening bags and a decorative textile mat. Included is an Austrian petit point handbag featuring a classical pastoral scene with figures in an outdoor garden setting, mounted to an ornate brass-tone filigree frame with a chain handle. Inside the bag, a white fabric label reads HAND MADE GENUINE PETIT POINT MADE IN AUSTRIA in blue lettering. The interior is lined in white leather. A gold-tone metal mesh evening bag features a rhinestone-accented shell-form clasp and a gold-tone chain strap. The interior metal frame is stamped in several places with a cartouche reading WHITING & DAVIS CO MESH BAGS and the number 2485. The bag is finished with a peach-colored satin lining. A Japanese gold beaded envelope clutch features a geometric pattern of bugle beads and a gold-tone satin lining. An interior fabric label reads Richere Bag by WALBORG MADE IN JAPAN in orange script and block lettering. A black beaded bag features a scalloped, layered beadwork pattern and a dual-tone metal kiss-lock clasp. The interior has a black satin lining and a small fabric label with red text that is not clearly legible as a name. Several black velvet bags feature metallic thread embroidery and braided rope handles; one contains a black fabric label reading MADE IN INDIA in orange block letters. The collection is completed by a scalloped hooked textile mat featuring a central beige field framed by pink and red floral motifs on a black ground. Across the widest point, the hooked textile mat measures approximately 10.5 inches in length.
