Description
A collection of 10 straight razors featuring various carbon steel blades and composition scales, housed in a brown leather seven day style travel case. The case interior features seven stitched leather loops numbered 1 through 7 in gold-toned foil. The razors represent multiple manufacturers from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A Robeson Cutlery Co. razor features cream-colored composition scales with a carved leaf motif at the end and red decorative hatching along the spine; the blade is etched Our – 1910 – Razor and the tang is stamped ROBESON CUTLERY CO. Multiple English razors by Wade and Butcher are included, bearing tang stamps for WADE and BUTCHER SHEFFIELD ENGLAND along with the cross and arrow device. One blade is etched with the text WADE and BUTCHER’S CHOICE and BLADE and BUTCHER’S CHOICE. A German-made razor by J.A. Henckels features a tang stamped with the number 78 above a twin stick-figure device and the words J.A. HENCKELS SOLINGEN ZWILLINGSWERK. Other German-manufactured pieces include razors with tang stamps for F.A. CLAUBERG’S TO GERMAN MADE, GEBR. KORTEN and SCHERF OHLIGS-SOLINGEN, and A.M. ROTHSCHILD and CO MADE IN GERMANY. An American-market razor is stamped GEO. F. CREUTZBURG and SON PHILA MADE IN GERMANY. One razor features a tang stamped with the stylized word SPIKE. The handles or scales are constructed from various materials including black celluloid, hard rubber, and cream-colored composition materials.
