Lot 363:
Pair Folk Art Rural Landscape Paintings
Sold for: $25
Description
A pair of rural landscape paintings executed in oil or acrylic on brown hardboard panels. The two paintings form a diptych, each featuring a simplified, naive composition of small brown cottages with chimneys and gestural trees sparsely placed within a green and yellow field. The scenes are set under a broad expanse of cloudy, pale blue sky. The style is characteristic of American folk art, utilizing flattened perspective and direct, unblended brushwork. The panels are unframed and reveal the raw fiberboard on the reverse. The reverse of the board shows signs of previous moisture exposure. No signature or artist name is visible on either the front or the back of the panels.20×18
