This lot consists of six folding carpenter’s rules, also known as zig-zag rules, constructed from wood with metal hinges and end caps. The collection includes specialized measurement tools and standard utility rules. One rule is an American-made Lufkin Doyle Log Scale rule, featuring a white finish with red and black text. The marks on this rule are printed and include the characters No. 524, THE LUFKIN RULE Co. SAGINAW, MICH. U.S.A., and DOYLE LOG SCALE. This rule includes specialized tables for board feet calculations, with visible numbers including 450 250 24 and 18 10 53. Another rule is a Lufkin X36 extension model, finished in a dark wood tone with white text reading X36 1 LUFKIN 2 RED END 3 ALL 4 Way 5 EXTENSION 6. This rule features a sliding brass extension piece integrated into the first segment. A white-painted rule is also present, featuring red-painted ends and marks identifying it as a Lufkin Red End model. Three additional rules are finished in yellow paint and bear the impressed marks 1 AMLOC 2 and MADE IN USA. The rules are composed of six-inch segments connected by steel and brass hinges.
