Description

A mixed media natural history diorama housed under a glass cloche. The arrangement includes a bird’s nest made from dried grasses and twigs featuring a single cream-colored egg with dark brown and black mottling characteristic of a quail egg. Two lepidoptera specimens are individually displayed within clear plastic spherical ornaments alongside dried white flowers, red berries, and pinecones. One specimen is a butterfly from the genus Diaethria, identifiable by its yellow-orange upperside and distinctive 88 pattern on the underside of the hindwing. The second is a tan-colored lepidoptera specimen. The contents are set into a circular dark-finished metal tray resting on a circular turned wooden base with a natural finish. The clear plastic hanging tabs on both spherical ornaments are embossed with the word CHINA. Total height: 32 cm (measured from the base of the wood to the top of the glass dome) Base diameter: 24 cm (measured across the widest point of the wooden base).
