Description
This model boat is an early 20th-century speed launch or pond boat. The hull is of planked construction, featuring individual wooden strips secured with small metal pins or tacks to create a narrow racing profile. The deck is fitted with a removable central hatch and an open cockpit area that contains a simple wooden seat back. The boat was originally designed as a motorized model, evidenced by the open internal compartment for a motor and a metal skeg assembly on the underside to support a propeller shaft. The internal machinery and propeller are currently absent. The boat is displayed on a contemporary black-painted metal wire stand. No legible manufacturer marks, factory labels, or signatures are present on the exterior or interior of the boat. The wood surfaces, particularly along the sides and stern, exhibit extensive fine scratching and irregular scribbles, but these do not form readable text or identifiable names. 36 inches.
