Description
This circular decorative wall plate is constructed from glazed white porcelain. The piece features a multi-color transfer-printed scene in the style of traditional folk art. The central motif depicts a man and woman in 18th-century attire flanking a symmetrical stylized floral arrangement with hearts and doves. The man wears a blue frock coat with gold buttons and red breeches while holding a stemmed glass, and the woman wears a green bodice with a red and white striped skirt while holding a single rose. The date 1707 is integrated into the lower gold-colored scrollwork. The outer rim is decorated with a wide navy blue band featuring repeating motifs of white doves and floral sprays. The reverse of the plate has a foot rim with two factory-drilled holes for wall mounting. The base features a transfer-printed backstamp consisting of a green oval containing a stylized black graphic. Below this mark, the characters spell KURT HAMMER with the number 19 printed below the name. The readable name KURT HAMMER corresponds to the known mark of the manufacturer of the same name, which typically features this specific graphic and spelled-out wordmark. Measured across the diameter, the plate is approximately 9 7/8 inches.
