Description
This collection includes two sets of two-on-a-plate tuning machines designed for a double bass or upright bass. The first set features a large, curved brass plate decorated with an engraved or embossed scrollwork border and two chrome-plated cloverleaf tuning buttons. The second set is mounted on a brass plate with scalloped edges and includes two brass-finished cloverleaf tuning buttons. Both sets utilize open-gear worm drive mechanisms with steel posts and brass gear cogs. There are no visible maker marks, brand names, country-of-origin stamps, or serial numbers on the front or back surfaces of either plate. Marks are absent. The ornate plate measures approximately 7.75 inches in length at the widest point of the curve with a center-to-center post distance of approximately 3.5 inches. The scalloped plate measures approximately 6.5 inches in length with a center-to-center post distance of approximately 3.25 inches.
