Lot 197:
Description
This American Country style corner cupboard is of two piece construction and is likely crafted from pine or a similar softwood. The exterior features a dark, near black charcoal painted or stained finish, providing a high contrast to the reddish brown stained wood of the door frames, drawer fronts, and lower door panels. The upper cabinet consists of two doors, each containing three panes of glass for a total of six panes; the glass shows characteristic waviness and imperfections associated with early glazing. The upper interior is finished in a light ochre or cream colored paint and houses two fixed shelves. The lower section includes two side by side drawers fitted with simple turned wooden knobs, situated above a double door cupboard with one interior shelf. The cupboard doors are secured by small metal latches and mounted with visible external hinges. A small white adhesive tag is attached to the right drawer knob and another to the upper door latch; the characters on these tags are not legible as a name or specific identification. A vertical split is visible in the lower left door panel. 85x54x23. 2 pc w/navy glass.
