Description

This specialty woodturning hand tool is designed as a burnisher or forming tool for use with a lathe. The construction consists of a long, turned hardwood handle joined to a steel rod by a cast metal ferrule. The handle is finished with a glossy varnish and features four incised decorative grip grooves at the butt end, along with a drilled circular lanyard hole. The ferrule is cast aluminum and displays three raised horizontal bands. The tool head is a cylindrical steel rod that terminates in a rounded, slightly flattened, and highly polished working tip. There are no maker names, stamps, patent dates, or country-of-origin marks legible on the handle, ferrule, or steel rod.
