Description

This lot features a full-size violin identified by two interior labels. One label features the printed characters HALLS TRINIDADIAN in two lines (photo 4). A second label is printed with the year 1995 above the name BRENT G. HAUTH and includes a circular logo containing a letter P (photo 5). The instrument is constructed of carved wood with a dark amber and brown shaded varnish. The fingerboard, tailpiece, chin rest, and tuning pegs appear to be ebony or a similar ebonized hardwood. The wooden bridge is stamped with the name BAUSCH (photo 3). The back of the instrument has been modified with amateur inscriptions in yellow paint; the upper back reads BEAUTIFUL fur LIZ (photo 8) and the lower back reads ALLELUIA TO THE LAMB (photo 9). A handwritten inscription in black ink on the lower left rib appears to read Rotten Bush (photo 10). The instrument is housed in a shaped -style hardshell case with a brown textured exterior and an orange corduroy-lined interior (photo 1). Included inside the case is a package of Genuine Lewis Strings (photo 11) and a spare wooden bridge component (photo 12).
