Description
This figurine depicts a seal or sea lion in an upright, alert posture, hand-carved from banded onyx, a variety of calcite. The piece displays characteristic horizontal layering in alternating bands of tan, cream, and light brown. The stone is finished with a high polish, and the figure features small, inset black bead eyes. The flippers are detailed with simple carved grooves.
