Description
This is an Aurora Plastics Corp. Skittle-Bowl tabletop action game, manufactured in West Hempstead, New York, with a copyright date of 1969. The game functions via a gravity-fed swing-ball mechanism, utilizing a wooden ball attached to a metal ball-link chain suspended from a wooden pole to knock down ten pins positioned in a recessed triangular area. The set features a molded dark brown plastic playing tray and turned wood game pieces. The complete set includes one plastic playing tray, ten turned wood skittle pins, one wooden ball on a metal chain, and a three-piece wooden pole assembly comprising two long segments and one short segment with a metal sleeve and top clip. A partial pad of original yellowed score sheets is present. The game is housed in its original cardboard box with color graphics. The box top is marked SKITTLE-BOWL with the Aurora logo and reads TEN PIN ACTION, SCORES LIKE BOWLING, THE WHOLE FAMILY PLAYS… KIDS DO IT BEST. The lower edge of the box top is marked 1969 AURORA PLASTICS CORP. WEST HEMPSTEAD, NEW YORK 11552. The side of the box identifies the model as NO. 550- and includes a handwritten number 528 in marker.
