Description
This collection features a variety of advertising tins, cardboard consumer packaging, and personal grooming items primarily dating from the mid-20th century. Kitchen and food items include two lithographed Colman’s Mustard tins, one 4 oz. size distributed by The R.T. French Company of Rochester, New York, and a smaller version featuring the Bull’s Head logo manufactured in England by J. & J. Colman Limited. Also included are two variations of Durkee’s Apple Pie Spice tins, a Knox Unflavored Gelatine cardboard box with cow head illustration, and a Sanitary’s Ice Cream waxed paper cup. The personal care group contains a Gillette injector-style safety razor in a black plastic case with metal mesh interior, a carded Gillette travel set featuring Head Up hair grooming cream and stainless steel blades, and carded blade packs from Gray Drug Stores of Cleveland and Schick. Medicinal and household items include a Sucrets antiseptic throat lozenge tin, a round Rawleigh’s Medicated Ointment tin, Dr. Grabow and Medico pipe filters, a Meissner components box, Snapit ivory insulated staples, a boxed bottle opener, and a Keelo Inked Record tin. Printed marks include Distributed by the R.T. French Company, Rochester, N.Y. 14609; Manufactured in England by J. & J. Colman Limited, London; The W. T.
