Description
A Vietnam War era United States military issue top-load duffel bag, also known as a sea bag. This piece of field equipment is constructed from heavy-weight olive drab cotton canvas. The bag features a cylindrical body with a circular reinforced base. It is equipped with an integrated, adjustable shoulder strap made of cotton webbing featuring a black-finished metal snap hook. A single horizontal canvas carry handle is stitched to the side. The top closure system consists of several reinforced metal grommets and a pivoting metal locking loop designed for use with a carabiner or padlock. The exterior body displays a large black stencil reading U S. Additional stenciled contract markings are located on the interior upper rim and include BAG DUFFEL, OLIVE DRAB, DSA-100-2057, and the National Stock Number 8465-261-6920. The DSA prefix dates this item to the Defense Supply Agency contract period of 1962 through 1977.
