Lot 137:
Description
This pair of ceramic figurines was produced by Norleans in a style inspired by the work of M.I. Hummel. Both figures are depicted seated on rustic wooden fences atop grass-textured bases embellished with small orange blossoms. The first figurine features a boy in a blue jacket, orange-red neckerchief, and brown breeches playing a cream and brown accordion. The second figurine depicts a boy wearing brown overalls, a white shirt, an orange-red neckerchief, and a brown hat, holding a basket of oranges with one additional orange in his right hand. The pieces are made of molded ceramic with a matte bisque-style painted finish. The underside of the fruit-bearing figurine bears a silver foil label with red text that reads TAIWAN and NORLEANS. The accordion-playing figurine has a modern white adhesive auction label on the base.4 and 6 in high.
