Description
A Chinese hand-carved stone figurine representing a crested bird, possibly a bird of paradise or cockatoo. The piece is fashioned from translucent pale green serpentine, also known as bowenite or new jade, featuring a waxy luster and natural internal veining. The bird is depicted perched atop a rocky base embellished with a large, many-petaled flower. Fine incised linear details delineate the plumage of the wings and tail, as well as the center and petals of the floral motif. The base is flat-cut without any visible marks or signatures. 5 in long
