Description
Two round wash basins constructed from pressed sheet steel with a vitreous enamel finish, commonly referred to as graniteware or agateware. The lot includes two distinct decorative patterns. The first basin features a blue and white marbled swirl pattern on the exterior with two black-trimmed loop handles and a white interior. The second basin features a blue and white mottled or spongeware pattern on the exterior with two integrated loop handles and a white interior. No manufacturer backstamps or maker marks are present. The interior bottom of the marbled basin contains handwritten characters in dark marker reading H over 7. Both pieces have white paper inventory stickers on the base numbered 355 and 356. These basins are characteristic of American farmhouse domestic wares from the late 19th to early 20th century. 15.5 and 16.5 inches
