Description

This collection consists of several US uncirculated coin sets issued by the Bureau of the Mint for the years 1971 and 1973. The 1971 sets were distributed through the San Francisco Assay Office as indicated by the Treasury Department envelopes. These sets contain the Lincoln cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter, and Kennedy half dollar. The 1973 sets include those denominations plus the Eisenhower dollar. The 1973 copper-nickel clad Eisenhower dollar is a key-date coin for the series as it was produced only for mint and proof sets and was not released into general circulation. Each set is housed in original government pliofilm packaging with red-bordered and blue-bordered sleeves representing the Philadelphia and Denver mints respectively. The sets include white plastic tokens inscribed UNCIRCULATED BUREAU OF THE MINT MINT SET. The coins are struck in bronze and copper-nickel clad compositions, exhibiting original mint luster and uncirculated surfaces. The accompanying original paper envelopes for the 1971 sets are marked TREASURY DEPARTMENT UNITED STATES ASSAY OFFICE 50 FELL STREET SAN FRANCISCO CALIF. 94102 OFFICIAL BUSINESS 1971?U. C. The 1973 envelopes are marked U.S. MINT 1973 Uncirculated Coin.
