Description
This World War II propaganda poster is an offset lithograph from 1943 featuring a portrait of General Douglas MacArthur by illustrator Joseph Christian Leyendecker, whose circular monogram is visible at the center left. The print was sponsored by The Timken Roller Bearing Company as part of a home front effort to promote the sale of war bonds. The composition utilizes a dominant palette of sepia and gold tones, while the General’s service ribbons and medals, including the Medal of Honor, are rendered in full color. The bottom margin includes the printed slogan DON’T LET GENERAL MacARTHUR DOWN ? BUY WAR BONDS! and a copyright notice for The Timken Roller Bearing Company.
