Description
This shallow circular presentation dish features a multi-lobed, scalloped rim and is constructed of silver-plated base metal, likely brass or copper. The underside of the dish is engraved with a central Luftwaffe eagle emblem clutching a wreathed swastika. Below the emblem is a three-line inscription in German script that reads: Aufkl?rungsgruppe 114 / Staffel 2 / Weihnachten 1936. This identifies the piece as a Christmas 1936 commemorative presentation item for the 2nd Squadron of Reconnaissance Group 114. The interior well of the dish is smooth and unadorned. No manufacturer hallmarks or silver purity marks are visible on the piece.
