Description
This lot features a single .31 caliber percussion-action half-stock sporting rifle equipped with a 38-inch octagonal barrel and a double-set trigger assembly. The firearm is constructed with a highly figured tiger maple stock finished in a dark stain and is fitted with brass furniture, including a crescent buttplate, a trigger guard with a finger spur, and a decorative patch box on the right side of the buttstock featuring an oval hinged lid. The barrel and lock plate show an aged, dark patina with heavy surface oxidation and pitting, particularly concentrated around the breech and nipple area. The brass components exhibit areas of green verdigris corrosion consistent with age. A wooden ramrod is held in place beneath the barrel by three brass pipes, and the stock is capped with a silver-toned metal forend tip featuring geometric cutouts.31 Cal.
