Description
This lot consists of two albums containing a collection of early-to-mid 20th-century greeting cards and postcards. The first album is housed in a brown basketweave-textured vinyl cover and primarily contains early 20th-century holiday greeting cards. Notable contents include an early Halloween greeting card depicting a girl looking into a mirror, various Thanksgiving cards with illustrations of turkeys and harvest scenes featuring text such as Thanksgiving Day Greetings and Thanksgiving Wishes, and late Victorian to early 20th-century Christmas cards. The second album is a Sanrio Badtz-Maru branded black vinyl album with markings including Street Bound, Badtz-Maru King of the Road, Badtz Biker, Custom Bikes, and Tough Rider, dated 2001. It contains mid-century topographic and travel postcards. Featured domestic cards include a view of Plains, Georgia, marked Copyright – 1962, L. L. Cook Co. 57283-B, and Parent’s Wells Beach Market. International postcards include scenes of 1568 Biel-Bienne, and a view of a storefront in Switzerland under a Swiss flag with signs for Bierhus and Chocolat. An interior scene labeled Valencia ? Interior de una Alqueria is also included. The collection includes both color and black and white printed cards, most of which are housed in protective plastic sleeve inserts.
