Description
This collection consists of four precision machinist tools from prominent American manufacturers including The L.S. Starrett Co., The Lufkin Rule Co., and Brown and Sharpe Mfg. Co. The set includes two calipers and two micrometers constructed of tool steel with knurled adjustment components. Item 1: An inside caliper and divider manufactured by The L.S. Starrett Co. of Athol, Massachusetts. The body is stamped THE L.S. STARRETT CO. ATHOL MASS U.S.A. and features a secondary cursive script engraving reading D. B. Holloway. It includes a knurled adjustment knob and pivot joint. Item 2: A firm-joint outside caliper produced by The Lufkin Rule Co. of Saginaw, Michigan. One arm is stamped THE LUFKIN RULE CO. SAGINAW, MICH. MADE IN U.S.A. Item 3: A Lufkin No. 1641V 0-1 inch outside micrometer. The frame is stamped THE LUFKIN RULE CO. SAGINAW, MICH. MADE IN U.S.A. No. 1641V. The reverse side of the frame is marked with a W inside a circle logo and PAT. AUG. 1, 1922. The ratchet cap is stamped PAT. SEPT. 15, 1925. The frame features an integrated decimal equivalent table. Item 4: An antique outside micrometer by Brown and Sharpe Mfg. Co. of Providence, Rhode Island. The barrel is stamped with the maker’s name and location. The frame is stamped with two patent dates: Pat. Jan 22 1884 and Pat. Nov 6 1894.
