Description
10 inches. A Dietz Vulcan railroad lantern featuring a black-painted metal frame and a tall wire bail handle. The top cap is embossed with the manufacturer mark reading DIETZ VULCAN N.Y. U.S.A. within an oval. The shoulder of the frame is embossed with the characters D and G, indicating railroad provenance. The lantern is constructed with a circular wire cage protecting a ruby red glass globe. The base retains its original burner assembly. This tubular lantern model was a standard signaling device used in North American railroad operations.
