Description
This collection consists of five rectangular embossed metal signs, constructed from painted or enameled steel or tin. Produced in an industrial or institutional style characteristic of the early to mid-20th century, each sign features raised block lettering finished in black. The background fields range in color from cream and off-white to a darkened tan. Every sign is designed with two mounting holes, located at each lateral end, with some retaining original metal grommets. The set includes signs with the following embossed text: NO SOLICITING, TELEPHONE, WASH ROOM, TOILET, and MANAGER. There are no visible manufacturer marks, stamps, or signatures on the front or reverse of the plates. Length: 10 to 12 inches.
