Description
32 x16 This wall clock features a custom hardwood case, possibly cherry, built by H. J. Moyer of Reading, Pennsylvania. The case is designed in the traditional octagon drop or schoolhouse regulator style, consisting of an octagonal dial surround and a lower drop trunk with a hinged rectangular access door. The white painted dial displays black Roman numeral hour markers and a minute track. An outer peripheral track is numbered 1 through 31 to indicate the day of the month. The clock is equipped with black spade and filigree hour and minute hands, along with a central red hand tipped with a crescent moon to indicate the calendar date. Two winding arbors are positioned on the dial. The internal mechanical movement is a 31-day strike movement of Korean manufacture, designed to be key-wound. The interior of the case contains a printed label reading Built by- H.J.Moyer Reading, Pa. Completed Aug.21St 1976. A secondary handwritten note also attributes the case to H.J. Major (likely a misspelling of Moyer) and identifies the movement as a 31-day Korean movement. The original brass-faced pendulum and winding key are included and currently wrapped in plastic.
