Description
10 in dia A large-format vintage advertising storage tin for Campfire Marshmallows, produced by The Campfire Co. The cylindrical vessel is constructed of lithographed tin featuring a white background with red and blue graphic elements. The front face displays the brand name Campfire in stylized red script above the phrases THE ORIGINAL FOOD and Marshmallows in blue lettering. Side panels contain vertical text reading For Baking, Topping and Eating and Toasting. Another panel specifies FINEST 5 LBS. NET QUALITY. The tin includes a Tested and Approved seal from the Good Housekeeping Bureau of Foods, Sanitation and Health. Marks on the lower edge identify production by The Campfire Co. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Cambridge, Massachusetts. The lower side rim is marked THE HEEKIN CAN CO CIN O 5294.
