Description
25 in long An antique hand-operated sausage stuffer made of cast iron, featuring a curved body design often referred to as a cow horn stuffer. The side of the hopper is embossed with cast lettering that reads PATENTED JULY 16 1878. This date refers to U.S. Patent No. 206,019 granted to Joseph G. Baker and is characteristic of the No. 1 model produced by the Enterprise Manufacturing Co. of Philadelphia. The mechanism consists of a long, curved lever handle connected to a circular piston designed to press meat or lard through the horizontal nozzle at the front. The unit is supported by three integrated legs; the two front feet are notched for bolting the tool to a work surface.
