Description
This lot features two American-made cold-blast tubular kerosene lanterns from the early-to-mid 20th century. The first lantern is a Dietz No. 80 Blizzard model, identified by embossed markings on the fuel fount reading DIETZ and NO. 80. Its clear glass globe is embossed with the DIETZ brand name within an oval. A distinctive feature of this lantern is the large, wraparound blue-painted metal reflector shield attached to one side, which includes a circular cutout. The second lantern is marked on the fount with the embossed name WARD, signifying it was manufactured for the Montgomery Ward retail brand, likely a Ward Wizard model. This lantern is equipped with a side-mounting bracket and a red glass signaling lens or reflector attached to the exterior wire guard. Both lanterns are constructed of stamped steel with wire globe guards and retain significant portions of their original blue-painted finish. Both units include fuel filler caps and wick adjustment knobs.
